Singapore Airshow: Swordfish addresses growing threat (video)

In recent years there has been a proliferation of submarines in the waters of the Asia Pacific region.

According to Jonas Hjelm, head of Support and Services at Saab, it is expected that there will be more than 100 submarines in the region by 2025.

Due to the maritime peculiarities of the region, specifically salinity and ocean floor profiles, submarines are particularly difficult to detect. When combined with the stealthy designs of new boats, detecting and engaging such platforms becomes even more difficult. 

In response, Saab used day two of the Singapore Airshow to launch a new maritime patrol aircraft
