MBDA’s CWSP system to be marketed as Sea Ranger
MBDA has named its Compact Warfare System Package (CWSP) system as Sea Ranger, the company announced on 27 October. MBDA is in negotiations with a number of potential export customers for the system.
Sea Ranger is a combat system based on the most recent missile additions to MBDA’s product range. For air defence, the system can be configured with the MISTRAL system comprising one to four SIMBAD-RC automated turrets; for anti-surface warfare in the littoral, it can be integrated with the short range anti-ship system, BRIMSTONE, for countering saturating attacks carried out by Fast Inshore Attack Craft; and with MARTE Mk2/N medium range anti-ship system capable of dealing with intermediate sized vessels.
The system has been developed for vessels that are responsible for the safety and security of highly sensitive coastal zones; and for providing logistics ships with an effective means of self defence.
MBDA provides the system as a turnkey solution, integrating the radar and optical sensors as well as a command, control and communication system (C3S) allowing for the optimal deployment of Sea Ranger’s air defence and anti-ship missiles in complex environments.
MBDA takes responsibility for the full integration of the system on board the relevant vessel and also for providing full customer support in assuring the effective carrying out of the project.
