NATO has concluded its Dynamic Mongoose 2018 submarine warfare exercise in the North Atlantic Ocean.

The exercise involved personnel, two submarines, seven surface ships and three maritime patrol aircraft from Denmark, German, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Turkey and the US.

Training was centred on anti-submarine warfare and anti-surface warfare, providing participants with complex and challenging warfare training to enhance interoperability and proficiency in anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare skills.

Submarines under operational control of NATO Submarine Command joined surface ships under Standing NATO Maritime Group One and maritime patrol aircraft under NATO Maritime Air Command in a simulated multi-threat environment.

Dynamic Mongoose is one of a series of exercises in which NATO trains and practices ASW skills under various circumstances and geographic conditions – in this case in the deep, cold waters of the North Atlantic.
