Belgian-Dutch intent goes beyond joint ship procurement

In addition to the joint procurement of new frigates and mine hunters under a letter of intent signed by Belgium and the Netherlands in Brussels on 30 November, the two countries plan to cooperate on other maritime tasks.

Both countries plan to replace the two M-Frigates and six mine hunters that each of their navies currently operate. Under its strategic vision 2030, Belgium plans to replace these ships on a one-for-one basis, while the Netherlands still has to determine its future frigate and mine hunter requirements.
