RADA tests OTM capabilities of tactical radars
RADA Electronic Industries has successfully completed testing the on-the-move (OTM) capabilities of its tactical radars, the company announced on 15 June.
The testing concerns the newly integrated OTM capabilities of its Multi-Mission Hemispheric Radar (MHR) and Compact Hemispheric Radar (CHR), achieved by integrating the radars with inertial navigation systems.
The new capabilities have been added in order to improve the tactical radars to meet the needs of the manoeuver force, particularly when encountering low, slow and small-sized threats such as armed and tactical unmanned aerial vehicles.
The capability has been demonstrated to an unnamed customer, with the radars demonstrating early detection, continuous and accurate tracking of a wide variety of small-sized, low and slow aerial targets from a continuously moving vehicle on varied terrain.
RADA’s upgraded RPS-42 MHR-based counter-drone radar systems with OTM capability will be delivered to this customer in July 2017.
Dov Sella, RADA’s CEO, said: 'Since the inception of our radars, we have considered the OTM technical and operational capabilities in their design, and we have now matured these products to address the urgent OTM needs of our customer base. We are very happy with the performance of our radars under these very demanding conditions.'More from Digital Battlespace
