US Space Force increases efforts to plug training capabilities gaps
The service has been seeking simulation and emulation solutions capable of reproducing multiple in-orbit threats.
Technology and systems integrator MicroTech has been selected as a Prime Vendor for the US Army $400 Million Information Technology Services - Small Business (ITS-SB) contract. The groundbreaking Federal contract opens the door to the small business community in providing technology services directly to the Army. MicroTech is the only Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and 8(a) that qualified for the ITS-SB award.
Under the terms of the ITS-SB ID/IQ - an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) multiple-award performance-based contract vehicle - the US Army, Department of Defense (DoD), or any other Federal agency is authorized to fulfill their IT support requirements. A Prime Contractor on more-than-100 Federal projects and 20-plus contract vehicles, MicroTech offers access to 2500 vendors and over a million technology products across the government.
"This landmark award identifies the small businesses most prepared to anticipate the Information Technology challenges of Warfighters," said Tony Jimenez, President & CEO of MicroTech. "MicroTech has a solid history of ID/IQ success with all service branches. ITS-SB not only extends our capabilities across the DoD, but also showcases the competence of our staff of highly trained professionals -- many of them military veterans -- who understand the business of government."
In partnership with the Army, MicroTech will provide Information Assurance (IA), Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V), the Electronic Product Environment Assessment Tool (EPEAT) Green technology program, Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) engineering services, migration/integration IT services, along with warranty and maintenance support.
The No. 1 IT 8(a) Business in the Nation, MicroTech (www.MicroTech.net) provides Technology Services, Systems Integration, Product Solutions, Unified Communications & Collaboration (UCC) and Innovation & Integration primarily to the public sector. The organization has made Quality Assurance an important part of their customer service focus, achieving ISO 9001: 2008 and ISO 20000 certifications in the first five years of being in business, along with an elite CMMI Maturity Level 3 rating.
The ITS-SB contract is a companion contract to the US Army Information Technology Enterprise Services (ITES) program. The ITES ID/IQ contracts make available technology hardware and services to enable Army enterprise-wide IT solutions. The contract term is over a five year period of performance -- a 36-month base period and one, 24-month option period.
"The introduction of ITS-SB demonstrates the Army's confidence in small business to tackle its most forward-leaning Information Technology requirements in support of Warfighters," Jimenez said. "MicroTech is honored to be selected to carry-out this important mission."
