L-3 conducts successful design verification testing of the ruggedized MPM-1000
L-3 Linkabit recently participated in a very successful Ruggedized MPM-1000 Design Verification Test with Program Manager Warfighter Information Network -Tactical (PM WIN-T), Lockheed Martin IS&GS and General Dynamics C4S. Featuring L-3’s Ruggedized MPM-1000 modem with the Network Centric Waveform (NCW), the test was conducted at Linkabit’s San Diego facility and demonstrated the modem’s compliance to PM WIN-T program requirements.
The evaluation was performed with the Ruggedized MPM-1000 modems running over internal NCW networks that were specifically designed to take advantage of Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) features. The modem, which includes L-3’s Agile-tuned front end, demonstrated the next big advance in MF-TDMA modem performance, culminating with successful Over-the-Air performance transmissions. MIL-STD-810F Environmental, MIL-STD-461E Electro-Magnetic Interference and Electro-Magnetic Compatibility tests were also performed and passed successfully.
“This testing highlighted the new physical ruggedization, the WGS-specific software enhancements and the Agile-tuned front-end performance of our Ruggedized MPM-1000,” said Elissa Seidenglanz, senior vice president of operations at L-3 Linkabit. “We are pleased to have demonstrated capabilities that will provide fielded combat teams with the flexibility to establish networked IP SATCOM links in rugged military environments.”
