General Dynamics awarded $62 million to support US Army
General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics, has been awarded a $61.8 million task order to support the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). The contract has a four-year period of performance.
Through this program, General Dynamics will provide the sustaining, uninterrupted information technology (IT) operations and maintenance support that INSCOM and its subordinate units require to create and share critical intelligence products to Army users worldwide.
The work consists of help-desk management, networking and systems operations, network administration, and software and network maintenance, which includes equipment repair either onsite or through warranty services. The company will provide information assurance services to secure networks, systems and data from potential threats. General Dynamics also will provide knowledge management solutions for INSCOM. Tiered-level support ensures that users receive specialized assistance to receive rapid resolution of issues and concerns.
"General Dynamics' thorough understanding of the INSCOM mission, systems and processes results from a more than 30-year partnership in delivering mission continuity and superior customer service," said Thomas Kirchmaier, senior vice president of General Dynamics Information Technology's Intelligence Solutions division. "We will work with the organization to sustain IT operations, maximize enterprise-wide capability and lower possible risks to the network to develop an optimal environment for intelligence creation and dissemination."
INSCOM, the Army's operational intelligence force, is headquartered at Fort Belvoir, Va. It is a global command with major subordinate commands that tailor their support to the specific needs of different theaters of operation (e.g. Europe, South America, South West Asia, etc.). The command synchronizes the intelligence operations of all INSCOM elements to ensure multi-discipline intelligence support to theater/component warfighters, the intelligence community and other national agencies.
INSCOM's strategic organization of 16,000 Soldiers, Civilians and Contractors at more than 180 locations around the globe ensures leaders at all levels have access to the intelligence information they need, when and where they need it.
Work for this contract will be conducted at the headquarters in Fort Belvoir, Va., and other locations including Fort Meade and Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.; Fort Sam Houston, Fort Bliss and Camp Bullis, Texas; Fort Huachuca, Ariz.; Fort Bragg, N.C.; and Fort Leavenworth, Kan. General Dynamics will also support US Army intelligence customers with worldwide
deployment, if needed.
