Defence IT 2012: IT deciding factor in warfare, industry leaders argue

Defence information technology is the ‘major enabler’ in the success or failure of military campaigns, according to a senior industry executive.

Nigel Whitehead, group MD for programmes and support operating group at BAE Systems and chairman of the UK Council for Electronic Business (UKCeB), described how history had shown that ‘great military campaigns’ had been won by generating an ability to supply the armed forces.
