NATO membership brings new dawn for North Macedonia

On 27 March, North Macedonia became the 30th member of NATO after Spain became the final country to ratify the treaty accepting the small Balkan nation.

In the last two years, the North Macedonian government created two ambitious documents that outline the development of the country’s armed forces in the next few years in light of NATO membership, but the realities surrounding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic are likely to affect the plans.
