Fresh airstrikes carried out by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Syria in late February have signalled its continued willingness to use military force to battle extremism in the region.
According to the Emiratis’ state news agency, UAE F-16E/Fs targeted IS oil refineries on 16 February from an unnamed Jordanian airbase. The agency said ‘similar’ attacks had been carried out on 10 and 12 February.
The airstrikes come just weeks after reports indicated the country had suspended its involvement.
