General Dynamics grabs major DoD IT deal
The US DoD, in partnership with the General Services Administration and Defense Information Systems Agency, has awarded General Dynamics Information Technology a $4.4 billion enterprise cloud contract based on Microsoft Office 365 software.
This Defense Enterprise Office Solutions contract will be the ‘largest ever deployment’ of Office 365, and the first deployment of COTS software in a DoD classified environment, GDIT stated on 3 November.
GDIT will replace legacy DoD IT back-office applications with an enterprise-wide standard cloud-based solution.
‘DEOS will streamline the DoD's use of cloud email and collaborative tools while enhancing cybersecurity and information sharing across the DoD's enterprise based on the latest commercial technology,’ the company added.
The scope of the ten-year contract includes all military services worldwide, for unclassified and classified environments.
