France inaugurates Battle Lab Terre
The Battle Lab Terre research and innovation centre for the French Army was officially inaugurated on 8 January by Minister of Defence Florence Parly.
Battle Lab Terre is supported by the French defence procurement agency DGA and defence innovation agency AID, which noted on social media: ‘The search for innovative solutions and the confrontation of technologies with the realities on the ground, in training and in operation, are essential to preserve the superiority of the Armee de Terre.’
The facility will engage with the private sector, including start-ups, to identify suitable technologies and support, develop and test prototypes.
To maintain momentum in the innovation and development process, the full cycle should ideally be completed in less than six months, according to the French MoD.
