Opinion: Decisions beckon after UK summer holidays

August is traditionally a sleepy period, as the UK government takes a breather and staff disappear for holidays. The flow of news dries up and the so-called ‘silly season’ begins, where newspapers desperate to fill column inches cover ever more obscure stories in greater detail than usual. This is a short interlude though, and as officials return in September ready to continue their work, what challenges lie ahead in the autumn for the MoD?
