Boeing gains contract modification for GBI
Boeing is to continue work on the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) programme in the US.
Under a $150 million contract modification awarded on 10 July, the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) will procure four extra Configuration 2 Ground Based Interceptor (GBI) boost vehicles, to maintain the fleet and flight test programmes.
Work will be performed in Chandler, Arizona, to be completed by 30 July 2023.
GBI has been operational since 2004. While the GMD programme continues, the DoD is already looking ahead to its successor with industry involvement from Boeing and other companies.
