V-280 for tomorrow's pilots

The V-280 Valor is a demonstrator born from many of the lessons learnt from the V-22 tiltrotor, but with the pilots of tomorrow in mind.

Bell Helicopter’s tiltrotor concept is being offered as one of the options for the US Army’s Joint Multi-Role – Technology Demonstrator (JMR-TD) programme. The other option being developed is Sikorsky-Boeing’s SB>1 Defiant.

Demonstrating the evolution of the V-280 concept, Vince Tobin, VP of advanced tiltrotor systems at Bell Helicopter, told Shephard how lessons were learnt from the V-22 Osprey and its manufacturing processes.
