US confirms V-22 sale to Israel

The US has confirmed its intention to sell the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor to Israel as part of a comprehensive defence package, in what will be the first international export of the aircraft, it has been confirmed.

Speaking at a press conference in Tel Aviv on 22 April, US defence secretary Chuck Hagel revealed that the new defence package for Israel includes an unconfirmed number of V-22 Ospreys as well as KC-135 refuelling aircraft and new anti-radiation missiles and radars.
