Bell Textron has received a $13.5 million order-dependent contract from US Army Contracting Command to conduct design studies, analysis, simulation, testing, integration and fabrication activities in connection with the Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA) programme.

The company will mitigate risks, investigate operational usage and conduct maturation activities at the technology, subsystem and system-level maturation for FARA and its variants, the DoD announced on 8 September.

Bids were solicited via the internet with two received.

Bell Textron is one of two prototype providers for FARA, the other being Lockheed Martin subsidiary Sikorsky.
