Germany to send WS-61 Westland Sea King helicopters to Ukraine
Germany has committed to sending Ukraine six of its 21 retiring WS-61 Westland Sea King multirole, amphibious helicopters.
On 6 April, the Russian MoD reported that it took delivery of two Mi-8MTPR-1 electronic warfare (EW) helicopters, equipped with the Rychag-AV active jammer system.
According to the Russian deputy defence minister responsible for the procurement, Yury Borisov, the helicopters were subsequently equipped with their EW mission suite at the Kazan Optical-Mechanical Plant.
The EWs were originally built at Kazan Helicopters.
During his visit at the plant, Borisov noted that the Rychag-AV system had proven to be a reliable system. The mission suite weights 1,500kg.
