Turkish coup: Helicopters central to failed operation

As the political upheaval continues across Turkey following the attempted coup on 15 July, details have emerged of the aviation assets involved in the failed operation.

Between the early evening of 15 July and the morning of 16 July, elements of the Turkish Armed Forces carried out the latest military coup in Turkey’s contemporary history.

The coup plotters were attempting to overthrow Erdogan’s regime and its AK Party (Justice and Development Party Turkey) apparently to reinstate constitutional order, human rights, the rule of secular law, and to preserve the democratic order.
