Thai Army puts faith in Leonardo

In December Leonardo Helicopters delivered six AW139s to the Royal Thai Army (RTA), giving it a total of ten units in service. Additionally, the RTA has ordered five AW149 helicopters to replace aging UH-1Hs that are being phased out of service.

The six AW139s were ordered last year for $80 million to serve the 1st Aviation Battalion, Army Aviation Centre for utility and general transport missions. This battalion also has UH-1H, UH-1H gunships and H125M platforms in service.
