Russia’s WMD receives Mi-35 helicopters

A helicopter regiment of the Russian armed forces’ Western Military District in the Pskov region has taken delivery of new Mi-35 multi-role assault helicopters, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced on 1 November.

The new helicopters were accepted following successful factory testing.

The Mi-35 is a modernised version of the Mi-24 helicopter. The helicopter is designed to support motorised rifle and armour units, airdrop paratroopers, evacuate wounded, and transport cargo in the cabin and on the external sling.

The helicopter is equipped with the Shturm-B anti-tank missiles, 80mm and 240mm rockets, one 12.7mm and two 7.62mm machine guns, 3mm grenade launcher and bombs weighing 50 to 500kg.
