Russian Helicopters has put forward a proposal to improve its after-sales service provision for Russian-made helicopters operated in India at the Russia-India conference.
One of the steps proposed by the company is a three-to-five year contract between Russian Helicopters and India’s home affairs ministry, navy and army, aimed at boosting after-sales service cooperation.
Another key step under the proposed process is the delivery of the latest equipment testing facilities and ground-based service facilities in India. The company believes this would improve service operations for Russian-made helicopters by automating several helicopter repair and technical maintenance procedures.
The company plans to upgrade existing facilities and build new ones for repairing and maintaining Russian-made helicopters. The first step would focus on modernising existing helicopters, particularly their fuel systems, communications systems, radio-navigation equipment and gears; along with new main engines and auxiliary power units.
Additionally, the company announced that it will deliver another three Mi-17V5 military transport helicopters to India by the end of 2015 to complete its contract. The existing contract ends in 2015 and covers the delivery of 151 helicopters, of which Russian Helicopters has delivered 148 so far.
