Russia deploys Ka-31SV to Syria

Russia has deployed a covert helicopter optimised for ground surveillance and reconnaissance to Syria, new video footage taken from the town of Latakia on 25 October reveals.

The Kamov Ka-31SV, which is equipped with a sophisticated radar package, uses the fuselage and general systems of the Ka-31 airborne early warning helicopter but has an all-new mission suite.

The video footage showed the clandestine helicopter at low level over the coastal line, flying in formation with a Mi-28N, Mi-24P and a Mi-35M.
