Royal Navy take top award at Air Tattoo

The Fleet Air Arm's Fly Navy 100 celebrations have been awarded the top prize at this year's Royal International Air Tattoo.

The Royal Navy sent a large contingent of helicopters and fixed-wing types to the show at RAF Fairford on July 18 and 19 to celebrate 100 years of Naval Aviation.

The highlight was the Fly Navy Balbo, which featured nearly 20 helicopters including Merlins, Sea Kings and Lynx as well as four Squirrels from the Defence Helicopter Flying School. Flying overhead were fixed wing assets including Harriers from the Naval Strike wing.
