Puma life extension programme continues

Eurocopter has begun ground run tests on the first RAF Puma Mk2 being assembled in Romania, it has been revealed.

According to Markus Steinke, MD of Eurocopter UK, 16 helicopters have now been inducted into the Puma Life Extension Programme so far. Of these 11 are being worked on at Eurocopter's facility in Brasov, Romania.

Four are undergoing the upgrade at the company's Marignane facility near Marseille while the 16th is currently being disassembled at Eurocopter UK at Kidlington ready for transport to Romania.

The first flight of an upgraded Puma Mk2 was carried out in June 2011 at Marignane.
