Germany set to decide on new way forward for heavy-lift helicopter procurement

After cancelling a long-running heavy-lift helicopter tender process, Germany is weighing up new solutions to help get the programme back on track.

Having cancelled the public tender process for its $6.4 billion heavy-lift helicopter procurement, the German MoD will decide on an alternative approach in Q1 2020.

‘At the moment we analyse other ways to realise the project,’ a German MoD spokesperson confirmed to Shephard in a statement.

An armaments readiness report published by the organisation on 9 December noted that the implementation of a government-to-government FMS deal will be taken into consideration, although the spokesperson did not indicate which solutions are currently being assessed.
