Dutch MUM-T trials connect with Apache upgrade

A programme of MUM-T tests in the Netherlands feeds into an effort to upgrade AH-64D attack helicopters to the new AH-64E Version 6 capability.

Defence Helicopter Command (DHC) in the Netherlands recently conducted initial in-country trials linked to the ongoing manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) operational test and evaluation of its Boeing AH-64D Apache Longbow Block II attack helicopter.

Further trials are scheduled for the coming months, feeding into the Dutch programme to upgrade its fleet of 28 AH-64Ds to the AH-64E Apache Guardian configuration.

The 20-21 January trials saw a Learjet 36A from Dutch contractor AEC Skyline used as a surrogate UAV. This aircraft is equipped with an L3 Wescam MX-10 EO/IR sensor pod, enabling the DHC attack helicopter unit to pursue its MUM-T
