Northrop Grumman will develop a next-generation Black Hawk helicopter cockpit display that leverages ANSYS system and software simulation solutions, the company announced on 8 October.
Using ANSYS SCADE Suite and SCADE Display technology, Northrop Grumman will provide fully integrated avionics software for the upgrade of the UH-60L Black Hawk cockpit to the digitised UH-60V. The systems will meet avionics standards, including DO-178C.
Eric Bantegnie, vice president for systems, ANSYS, said: ‘ANSYS' commitment and involvement in Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) includes support for ARINC-653, ARINC-661 and DO-178C. Using these proven solutions will allow Northrop to optimise its system and software strategies and reduce development costs.’
Up to 750 UH-60L aircraft are expected to be modified to the UH-60V configuration, which represents the first fully integrated avionics system for US Army utility aircraft.
Simona Kelley, director of army avionics programs, Northrop Grumman, added: ‘SCADE allows us to take full advantage of model-based engineering, resulting in improved development and testing efficiencies and delivering an affordable software sustainment approach across the programme life cycle.’
