NHIndustries (NHI) has signed a memorandum of agreement with the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs for the participation of Dutch industry in the sustainment phase of the NH90 helicopter, it announced on 14 March.

Under the agreement, Airborne (NL) and Fokker Technologies will conduct maintenance, repair and overhaul work for the Royal Netherlands Air Force’s NH90 helicopters.

Airbus Helicopters has authorised Airborne for ML1 and ML2 rotor blade repair activities for NH90 helicopters. Airborne will work to get the ML3 maintenance qualification level to perform this work as an Airbus Helicopters subcontractor for operators in the Netherlands, Belgium and other nations.

Fokker performed its first official standard part delivery for the NH90 helicopter in 2013, and the transfer of the entire standard parts package has now officially been finalised.

Vincent Dubrule, president, NHI, said: ‘NHI is actively partnering with international suppliers in order to improve the availability of platforms and reducing cost of maintenance for the operators of the NH90.’

The NH90 helicopter has a redundant fly-by-wire flight control system and is being built in two variants – a tactical transport variant for land based operations and the NH90NFH (Nato Frigate Helicopter) for naval operations. A total of 271 helicopters have been delivered so far in both variants to countries including the Netherlands, Germany, Oman and New Zealand.
