More MD530F gunships headed to Afghanistan

MD Helicopters is preparing to deliver six more MD530F light attack helicopters to the Afghan Air Force, following delivery of the initial six aircraft earlier this month.

The gunship effort began with a 2011 contract to provide training helicopters for the Afghan Air Force, according to Roger O’Dell, director of programme management at MD Helicopters. 

MD Helicopters delivered six MD530F helicopters under that training package, which it also supported with contractor logistics support. The training is provided by the 438th Air Expeditionary Wing of US Air Forces Central Command.
