MD Helicopters overcomes Boeing legal challenge

MD Helicopters (MDHI) has overcome a legal challenge from Boeing aimed at preventing it from offering the MD 540F helicopter in direct competition to Boeing’s AH-6.

An arbitration tribunal has ruled against Boeing in the dispute – first reported by Shephard Media – which centres on a 2005 agreement between the two companies when they were teamed in pursuit of the US Army’s Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter (ARH) programme.

According to documents filed in an Arizona court on 17 July, the judgement leaves MDHI free to offer the MD 540F for the army’s current Armed Aerial Scout (AAS) programme and
