Malaysia falls back in love with MD 530G

Malaysia will take delivery of six MD 530G helicopters from the end of 2020, following a decision by the then Pakatan Harapan government, before its collapse in late February, to continue with the acquisition.

The decision brought to an end the drama surrounding the acquisition. The saga began last June when then defence minister Mohamad Sabu filed a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency. In October 2019, Sabu told parliament that the Malaysian Army was unwilling to use the helicopters if they were delivered, as they were not suited to requirements.
