Lynx Mk9s receive enhanced protection package from Vector Aerospace
The Lynx Business Unit at Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services Fleetlands in Gosport has recently completed an important modification upgrade across the UK MoD's entire fleet of Mk9 Lynx helicopters.
All 22 aircraft are now fitted with the latest Defensive Aids System (DAS) to help protect them from possible enemy attacks while carrying out their duties in theatre.
Vector Aerospace was able to deliver all the aircraft on time, within budget and even managed to include a routine Depth Maintenance Package, which takes an average of 33 days to complete, on four of the helicopters in parallel with the modification work.
The success of the installation of the modification package can be attributed to the excellent working relationships between the Fleet Manager, Lynx Project Team and other key industry partners.
Captain Chris Tutill from Joint Helicopter Command said, "Vector Aerospace has delivered a very successful programme. The modifications are critical to the operational effectiveness of our Mk9 fleet. Each of the 22 aircraft was delivered without delay or any impact to other core depth business, which demonstrates the close working relationship that the JHC enjoys with Vector Aerospace and the Lynx PT."
The Lynx Business Unit has also carried out DAS upgrade modifications on two other Lynx variants - the Mk7 (15 helicopters) and the Mk8 (8 helicopters).
