Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has tested its new Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS) on the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) technology demonstrator-2, the company announced on 31 January.

The 20 minute flight test was declared a success by the company.

HAL has developed the AFCS as an alternative to imported systems. The digital four-axis flight control system is capable of performing control and stability augmentation functions and has an auto-pilot mode.

Other indigenous technology on the LCH cockpit display system include the Integrated Architecture Display System. Developed with the participation of Indian private industry, flight testing of this system is underway.
