Kenya to receive MD-530F helicopters in US FMS
The Kenya Defence Force (KDF) is to receive six MD-530F helicopters under a US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme.
The programme was announced by the US Embassy in Nairobi on 23 January.
The package will include the aircraft as well as a comprehensive spare parts and multi-year sustainment package to ensure the longevity of the aircraft.
US Ambassador Kyle McCarter, said: ‘The six MD-530F helicopters are emblematic of the decades-long security partnership between Kenya and the United States. These helicopters are tangible examples of our joint commitment to the fight against terrorism, and Kenya’s willingness to invest in its own security.
‘The United States is here to support the KDF’s ongoing modernisation efforts and realise our mutual security objectives in the region.’
