Industry awaits ITEP manufacturing decision

A downselect decision for the engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase of the US Army’s Improved Turbine Engine Programme (ITEP) is to be made by the service before the end of 2018.

According to a GE spokesperson, during the EMD period, industry will be expected to deliver ITEP flight test engines, offer integration support for Black Hawk and Apache helicopters and support flight testing.

‘The timing of all those things is yet to be determined,’ he told Shephard.

Under an umbrella name of the Advanced Engine Turbine Company (ATEC), Pratt and Whitney and Honeywell have formed a joint venture,
