Industry waits for US light attack helicopter guidance

Bell and Sikorsky are gearing up for a forthcoming announcement that will shed light on the Pentagon's plans to build a new, light attack helicopter and regain a toehold in the aviation arena.

By the end of the September, a broad area announcement (BAA) is expected to be unveiled that will solicit industry feedback for a capability set 1 (CS1) helicopter under the Future Vertical Lift umbrella. In preparation, Bell is weighing up its options while Sikorsky moves out with S-97 Raider flight tests.
