Honeywell has signed a license agreement with Jordanian Aeronautical Systems Company (JAC) to provide support services for Honeywell’s T53 series engines, the company announced on 21 August.

JAC will be the first dedicated T53 engine service centre in the Middle East and Africa region. It will provide military and commercial operators with localised repair and maintenance options.

The T53 turboshaft engine powers helicopters such as the Bell UH-1H Huey, Huey II and AH-1H Cobra.

Mosab Alkubaisy, director Middle East and Africa, Honeywell Aerospace, said: ‘As the Middle East and Africa region continues to grow, we recognise the need to offer a more accessible, regional repair and maintenance option.

'With the new Jordanian Aeronautical Systems service centre, operators can have their T53 engines repaired locally, which means quicker turnaround and less downtime so they can stay flying for longer.’
