The establishment of an AS350 Ecureuil line at its Columbus, Mississippi, facility will help strengthen Eurocopter’s position in the US, according to a key executive.
The plant will be upgraded into a final assembly and test site for AS350 helicopters, with production beginning in Q4 2014.
Speaking to reporters at Helitech International on 24 September, Dominique Maudet, Eurocopter’s executive VP for global business and services, said the rationale behind the move was twofold. It will both provide a way to offset the impact of the reduction in the US Army’s procurement of the UH-72A Lakota, as well as boost sales
