Heli-Expo 2013: Rolls Royce announces latest engine evolution

Rolls Royce used the start of the Heli-Expo exhibition in Las Vegas to launch the latest variant of its M250 engine.

The M250-C47E features the Value Improvement Package (VIP), dual-channel Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) and an increase in power.

Greg Fedele, senior VP helicopters and light turbines, told reporters that rated takeoff power had increased to 700 shaft horsepower while specific fuel consumption (SFC) has been reduced and engine reliability increased.
