GAO questions US Army aviation restructure

A new report scrutinising the cost estimates and assumptions behind the US Army’s controversial Aviation Restructure Initiative (ARI) has found them to be ‘substantially comprehensive’ but limited when it comes to projecting future cost savings.

Released by the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) on 27 April, the report is critical of the annual cost estimates used by the Army to justify the ARI saying they do ‘not reflect uncertainties about personnel, operations, or readiness of individual units.’
