Aussie Tiger FOC expected by year end

Despite lingering sustainment issues, full operational capability (FOC) of the Australian Army's Airbus Helicopters Tiger attack helicopter is expected to be achieved before year’s end.

The Tiger Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter (ARH) as a platform has matured and has been ready for operational deployment the past two years, according to Lt Col Dean Thompson, commanding officer of the Australian Army’s 1st Aviation Regiment.

Speaking to Shephard at the Shoalwater Bay Training Area during Exercise Talisman Sabre, Thompson said the pending FOC instead covered whole-regiment certification.

Thompson admitted sustainment issues with the Tiger, and Shephard has heard persistent rumours the Australian Defence Force
