FIDAE 2010: Humanitarian helicopters in Chile

Defence Helicopter’s Tony Osborne speaks to some of the crews involved in the humanitarian operations following the Chilean earthquake in February.

The devastating earthquake that shook Chile at the end of February has no doubt re-ignited the importance of helicopters to the country’s three armed services.

All three services have access to fleets of modern helicopters. The army for example is in the process of taking delivery of Eurocopter Super Pumas while the air force’s fleet is being modernised with the Bell 412EP.
