Farnborough 2016: Combat to support Apache begins

With the UK Ministry of Defence confirming it is buying new AH-64E Apaches essentially off-the-shelf from Boeing, its domestic defence industry is now scrambling to secure work in support of the aircraft.

While the decision to purchase 50 of the latest version of the Apache under a $2.3 billion deal through the foreign military sale mechanism has been long-anticipated, it nevertheless comes as a body blow to Leonardo Helicopters (formerly known as AgustaWestland).
