Eurocopter mulls German helicopter cuts

Eurocopter plans to pitch a deal to the German government that would see aircraft cut from its NH90 TTH (Tactical Transport Helicopter) multirole helicopter procurement delivered as naval variants instead.

At the end of October, Germany announced that only 80 NH90 TTHs would now be acquired, instead of the original target of 122 aircraft, and these would be concentrated within two light transport helicopter (LTH) regiments in the army.

The defence ministry also decided to halve the number Eurocopter Tiger UHT attack helicopters acquired from 80 aircraft down to 40.
