EP-8000 image generators selected for Apache LCTs
Rockwell Collins’ EP-8000 image generators have been selected for the Boeing Apache Longbow Crew Trainers (LCT), marking the latest development in a long relationship between Rockwell Collins and Boeing on the Apache LCT programme.
The Rockwell Collins EP-8000 image generator system is designed to overcome the challenges of creating a synthetic environment for attack helicopter aircrew training. The system combines realism and performance with a scalable, adaptable design to meet complex training requirements. It is also designed to meet low life-cycle cost requirements.
LeAnn Ridgeway, vice president and general manager, Simulation & Training Solutions for Rockwell Collins, said: ‘We’re now into the fourth generation of image generator upgrades in our Boeing Apache relationship dating back to 1997.
‘Combining LCT requirements for high-fidelity, realistic and accurate correlated simulations of the Apache’s FLIR sensor imaging and weapons systems is a challenge with significant complexity. Only Rockwell Collins provides the industry leading image generator system and databases capable of meeting the discriminating needs of the LCT.’
