Danish SAR Merlins now performing to task

After a series of niggles and teething problems, the Royal Danish Air Force (RDAF) say they are becoming increasingly satisfied with the performance of their Search and Rescue AW101 Merlins.

In 2001, the Danish Ministry of Defence ordered 14 Merlins. Eight equipped for SAR and six for the tactical troop transport role, but shortly after delivery in 2006, there was dissatisfaction with the aircraft operational rates were well down, as low as 50% and even 30% at times, compared to the goal of 80%.
