Croatian OH-58D training progresses
Croatian OH-58D Kiowa Warrior pilots have conducted a tactical group live firing and rocket launching exercise, the Croatia Ministry of Defence has announced.
The exercise was carried out by the 93rd Croatian Air Force and Air Defence in the Eugen Kvaternik training range near Slunj in day and night conditions.
This was the third cycle of firings as part of Croatian force training, which has been being carried out under US instructor supervision.
Conducted by the OH-58D Kiowa helicopters flying in pairs, the weapons fired included the 12.7mm machine gun, the Hydra 70mm unguided rocket, Helfire missile, and Heckler-Koch G-36CV gun.
This exercise marks the completion of Croatian pilot training and concludes the mission of US instructors, who will now leave the Air Base Zemunik; Croatian pilots will take over the role of instructors for new Kiowa pilots.
Air technicians of all specialties also concluded successfully their own training and have been certified as autonomous instructors.
