Colombian helicopters provide relief support in Peru
The Colombian Army’s Air Assault Aviation Division (DAVAA) and the Colombian Air Force (FAC) are currently deployed in Peru as part of a regional relief effort related to the El Niño tropical phenomenon.
On 19 March, two Sikorsky UH-60Ls belonging to FAC took-off from the Air Combat Command base in Rio Negro arriving the same day to Piura airport in Peru.
Five days later, the two helicopters had flown a total of 23 hours, rescued/evacuated 70 people and transported 36t of food and emergency supplies in 31 sorties.
